OUR MISSION

To provide a safe and inclusive hub where youth can connect to Hawaiian values and their own cultural identities while building real-world skills, confidence, and career and college pathways through co-learning, service, and mentorship.

A DAY AT KAULIKE…

A day at Kaulike Academy doesn’t look like school as most people know it. Instead of bells and rows of desks, teens arrive at a shared studio space that feels more like a co-learning and co-working hub than a classroom.

  • Mornings begin with youth-led check-ins, personal goals posted on the accountability board, and preparation for a focused work session.

  • During Focus Blocks, students dive into independent study while tutors and mentors provide targeted support in math, writing, GED prep, and more — but always step back so youth stay in charge of their learning.

  • Afternoons shift into Collaboration Blocks, where students join Socratic discussions, manage community projects, or pursue personal interests. For those unsure where to start, mentors guide them toward real-world projects that build portfolios, leadership, and confidence.

  • The day closes with reflection and planning, where youth review their goals, share accomplishments, and support one another as a cooperative community.

At Kaulike, every day reinforces independence, accountability, and cultural pride — preparing youth not only for career and college pathways, but for leadership in their families.

Vision Statement

To inspire youth to embrace their unique gifts, stay rooted in the values of Hawaiʻi, and become empowered individuals contributing to their communities and the world.
