Kaulike Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, youth-led co-learning and co-working hub for teens ages 13–19. It’s a space for homeschoolers and alternative learners to connect, build community, and create their own school experience. While the majority of our students are Native Hawaiian, we welcome all teens. Grounded in
Kaulike Academy is Hawaiʻi’s first youth-led co-learning and co-working hub for ages 13–19. We are not a traditional school — instead, we provide a structured cooperative space with daily check-ins, focus blocks, tutoring support, collaboration, and accountability systems where youth take charge of their own learning.
At Kaulike, students don’t just participate — they lead programs like:
Our cooperative model is built on kuleana — responsibility to self, family, and community. Students contribute through volunteer hours, service projects, and cultural programs that strengthen identity and community ties.
Most importantly, Kaulike is youth-led and youth-run. Teens here are already creating businesses, mentoring peers, and solving community challenges — preparing for adulthood with confidence, purpose, and leadership.
Youth-Led Programs – Teens run Tech Savvy Teens, ʻŌpio Mākeke, and Keiki Rise, gaining real leadership and entrepreneurship experience.
Mentorship, Not Teachers – No traditional teachers; instead, mentors, tutors, and kūpuna provide guidance where it’s needed most.
Cultural Connection – Rooted in Hawaiian values and local traditions, creating a space where youth feel seen, supported, and grounded.
Real-World Experiences – Apprenticeships, internships, and hands-on projects that connect learning to life.
Youth Co-Learning & Co-Working Hub – A safe, inclusive studio just for ages 13–19 to collaborate, grow, and thrive together.

Come down and join us at ʻŌpio Mākeke for a vibrant day of culture, community, and connection. Enjoy free cultural workshops where you can learn hands-on skills like lauhala weaving, lei making, and ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. Shop from local youth entrepreneurs, support small businesses, and take in the sounds of live music by talented kūpuna and well-known Hawaiʻi entertainers. Bring your ʻohana, connect across generations, and experience a truly meaningful community event.

We warmly invite all kūpuna to join us in Kāneʻohe for a special Kūpuna Tech Day at KEY Project! Come enjoy a welcoming, supportive space where our Tech Savvy Teens will provide free one-on-one help with your phone, tablet, or laptop—whether you’re learning something new or just need a little extra support. You can also attend easy, hands-on workshops on topics like scam prevention, telehealth, and everyday tech skills, plus bring any old devices for safe recycling or a quick check-up. It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn, and feel more confident with technology—all in one place. We hope to see you there!
Kaulike Academy is Hawaiʻi’s first youth-led co-learning and co-working hub for ages 13–23. Our learner-driven model empowers teens to take control of their education, rebuild confidence, and reignite their passion for learning. Many arrive after struggling in traditional schools—feeling unseen or discouraged. At Kaulike, they gain the tools, mentors, and real-world experiences to thrive.
Your donation provides what matters most: laptops and internet for learning, materials for youth-run businesses, stipends for internships, and a safe co-working space designed just for teens. These resources turn possibility into reality, giving youth the chance to succeed on their own terms.
When you give, you’re not just funding a program—you’re changing the trajectory of a young person’s life.
